Scottish Caramel Pu-erh has a buttery smooth caramel flavor that adds a decadent layer of sweetness to the musky earthiness of vintage Pu-erh for a tea that is, quite simply, dessert in a cup! The sweet, burnt sugary flavor of caramel toffee harmonizes with notes of cream and damp sweet earth, balancing the astringency to create an ideal afternoon tea. Unlike other Pu-erh teas, this one noticeably improves with a splash of milk!Pu-erh is a black tea from China’s Yunnan province that has undergone a special fermentation process to infuse the leaves with a distinct musty character. For years Pu-erh has been prized by practitioners of Chinese medicine to aid digestion by breaking down fat in the body, treat arteriosclerosis and more.

Brewing Recommendations

Teas are like people, each is different and there is no one way to prepare a cup. Use this as a starting point for brewing this tea as you explore its unique characteristics. Some teas are recommended for brewing with boiling water, while others are brewed at lower temperatures. Even when brewing a tea at a lower temperature, it is recommended that you first boil the water (to kill bacteria etc.) and then allow the water to cool to the correct temperature (ice cubes speed up the process). While you can certainly brew any tea with boiling water, it will change the flavor of the tea.
